WELCOME TO MIONA 101. EVERY BUSINESS HAS A GIANT. WHAT'S YOURS?

Welcome to Miona 101: Every Business Has a Giant. What’s Yours?

Imagine you have a vision for your business.

You have a picture in your mind of where you want to go. You can see the customers, the growth, the impact, maybe even the legacy you want to build one day. You know what you are capable of, and you know there is something bigger waiting for you.

But somehow, you keep finding yourself in the same place.

You work hard. You try different things. You post on social media. You create a poster. You offer a promotion. You tell people about your business. You try again.

And yet, when you look at your business, you sometimes wonder, “Why am I still here?”

Maybe you have been in business for three years, five years, or even longer, but when you compare where you are today to where you were when you started, the difference is not as big as you expected.

You know your craft. You know your product. You know your service. You know that what you offer has value. So why does it feel like you are walking in circles?

That is the question I want us to start with.

Every business has a giant.

There is a story in the Bible about David and Goliath. Goliath was a giant who stood between the Israelites and the victory they were hoping for. He was bigger, stronger, and intimidating enough that people were afraid to face him.

Then David stepped forward.

David did not defeat Goliath because he was bigger than him. He faced him because he was willing to recognize the giant standing in front of him and believe that the giant could be defeated.

I believe business can be like that too.

There are giants that stand between where your business is today and where you know it could be.

Sometimes the giant is fear.

Sometimes it is inconsistency.

Sometimes it is confusion.

Sometimes it is poor positioning, a lack of strategy, not understanding marketing, or simply trying to do everything yourself.

Sometimes the giant is being invisible. You have a good business, but the right people don't know you exist.

And sometimes, the giant is something you haven't even identified yet.

That is where our journey begins.

You can't deal with a problem you haven't identified.

Think about what happens when you go to the doctor because you are not feeling well.

The doctor doesn't just randomly give you medicine and hope that something works. They look at your symptoms, ask questions, investigate what is happening, and try to understand what is actually wrong.

Why?

Because you need to know what you are dealing with before you can treat it properly.

Business is not that different.

If you don't understand why your business is struggling to grow, you can spend years trying random solutions.

You can keep changing your logo when your real problem is your positioning.

You can keep creating posters when your real problem is that you don't have a marketing system.

You can keep posting on WhatsApp because that's where everyone around you seems to be posting, while your potential customers are looking for you somewhere else.

You can keep saying, “I need more customers,” when the real problem is that people don't understand what makes your business different.

You can keep working harder and still find yourself in exactly the same place.

And I know this because I have had to learn these lessons myself.

Miona didn't start with everything figured out.

When I started Miona, I wasn't sitting down with a ten year business plan thinking, “This is going to become an agency.”

Honestly, I needed an income.

I wasn't getting a job, and I knew I couldn't sit around waiting for someone to give me an opportunity. I needed to create something for myself.

At the time, I knew I could design. I knew how to create posters and I knew how to use Facebook to put those designs in front of people.

So I started there.

Miona was initially operating as Miona Digital Studios, mainly focused on graphic design.

But as I started working with businesses, I noticed something that bothered me.

There were so many businesses around me, but many of them were not really marketing themselves. Some businesses would have one poster and circulate that same poster over and over again.

The same poster.

The same information.

Month after month.

Sometimes for years.

And I started asking myself, “Is having one poster really marketing?”

That question led me to create the Step Up and Stand Out campaign.

At first, I wanted seven businesses.

Seven business owners who were willing to say, “You know what? I don't want to blend into the crowd anymore. I want to step up and stand out.”

The campaign included two social media posts and a brand new logo because, in many cases, even the branding businesses were using was outdated.

I thought I was looking for seven businesses.

I ended up working with around twenty one.

That was one of the moments when I started thinking, “Okay, maybe this thing can actually work.”

But while I was building, I was also learning.

And that is where things started getting interesting.

I knew marketing, but I was still learning business.

I had knowledge from studying marketing. I understood campaigns. I understood some of the principles behind what I was doing.

But knowing marketing and knowing how to build a business are two different things.

As Miona grew, I started discovering all the things I didn't know.

I realized that I needed objectives.

I needed to understand positioning.

I needed to know exactly who Miona was serving.

I needed to understand what Miona stood for.

Most importantly, I needed to stop thinking only about what I could sell and start thinking about the problem I was actually solving.

Then something else happened.

AI became really good at graphic design.

Suddenly, people who had never designed before could create posters and marketing materials using AI.

And I had a decision to make.

I could keep trying to compete in exactly the same space, or I could evolve.

I chose to evolve.

That is when Miona started moving beyond simply being a graphic design business.

I started looking at company registrations, digital infrastructure, websites, social media marketing, branding, strategy and all the different pieces a business needs when it is trying to move from an idea into something real.

And eventually, I realized something very important.

Miona was never really about posters.

The poster was only one part of the bigger picture.

The bigger picture was helping someone build a business.

That is when I started defining Miona differently.

Miona is a business startup partner for startups and small businesses.

We help people move from an idea into a properly established business, and then begin building the foundation that can help that business grow.

And that is where Miona 101 comes in.

So, what exactly is Miona 101?

Miona 101 is a journey.

It is a place where we are going to talk about the things that affect businesses before we jump straight into another “five marketing tips” post.

Because sometimes you don't need another tip.

Sometimes you need someone to help you understand what is actually happening in your business.

Miona 101 exists for the business owner who has a vision but feels stuck.

For the person who has a great idea but doesn't know how to execute it.

For the person who has been in business for years but feels like the business is still at the same level.

For the person who is constantly busy but doesn't feel like they are making meaningful progress.

For the person who is posting, advertising and trying different things but doesn't really understand marketing.

And for the person who knows there is something bigger inside their business but doesn't know how to get there.

Over the coming Miona 101 lessons, we are going to identify some of the giants that businesses face.

We are going to talk about why they appear, how they affect your business, and what you can do about them.

Because I have come to realize that there are giants in every business.

I have fought some of mine.

The giant of fear.

The giant of procrastination.

The giant of sameness.

The giant of inconsistency.

The giant of uncertainty.

And I am still fighting some of them.

I am not writing this from a place of having everything figured out.

I am building Miona too.

I am learning.

I am testing.

I am making mistakes.

I am changing things when they stop working.

And I am learning how to recognise the giants before they become the reason I stop moving.

That is what I want Miona 101 to be.

Not a place where I stand above you and tell you everything you are doing wrong.

A place where we can look at business honestly, identify what is standing in the way, and figure out how to move forward.

Because sometimes the first step toward growth isn't doing more.

Sometimes it is simply being able to say:

“This is what I am fighting.”

And once you can name the giant, you can start figuring out how to face it.

Welcome to Miona 101.

This is our first lesson.

Before we talk about marketing.

Before we talk about branding.

Before we talk about social media.

Before we talk about websites, systems, customers and growth.

Let's start here.

Let's look at the giants.

Because every business has one.

Maybe you already know yours.

Maybe you have been feeling its effects for years without knowing what to call it.

Maybe you are currently fighting one.

Or maybe you are just starting your business and you want to recoznise these giants before they become bigger than they need to be.

Wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome here.

This is Miona 101.

Every business has a giant.

What's yours?
